Jennifer Saul is a philosopher who has extensively studied racist and deceptive language. Her forthcoming book, Dogwhistles and Figleaves (Oxford University Press, 2024) explores the function of these devices in spreading racism and conspiracy theories over the last few decades, and theorises these devices from the perspective of philosophy of language.
